About

Film is a demanding mistress that wants to be loved in all its forms – and I am its slave.

My love affair with film has lasted as long as I can remember. The first movie I watched on the big screen was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and I haven’t looked back since. I remember watching Back to the Future as an impressionable 10-year-old and thinking it was the best thing I’d ever seen (it’s still one of my all-time favourites); however, I began to realise cinema could be more than a simple slice of entertainment after watching Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece Raging Bull as a teen and since then have lapped up what the world of film has to offer, from the sublime to the downright ridiculous …

Just for information, I linked her via Rorschach after reading your Departed guest review. Really like your stuff, and just wanted to highlight that your guesting there, worked to deliver me here. Success!

Thank you! Your kind words are much appreciated. I’ve taken a trip over to your blog – a nice looking site with lots of interesting stuff; consider yourself ‘followed’! Nice to see Heat in your Top 10; it would make mine too.

Ah yes, Back to the Future. Who among us wasn’t deeply impacted by that movie? It’s got everything an impressionable kid could ever want in a movie. Time travel, terrorists, skateboarding chase scenes, zany situations, awesome guitar solos… it’s a true marvel of film!

    • Three Rows Back · September 3, 2013

And let’s not forget Christopher Lloyd. A true legend 🙂

Hey Mark, I got an idea for an upcoming Throwback Thursday post for the Thursday before Xmas this year. I am wanting to do a review for the OH-SO-classic Home Alone. But was looking for a little help. Would you be interested in participating, dear sir?? I think we could put together a pretty interesting review/love-letter to the film and speak from two different perspectives (one from that of Kevin and the other from the invaders). if you want in, send me an email to tomlittle2011@gmail.com or let me know how else i can get in contact with you for a possible collaboration. 🙂

Hey Tom. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you; have been feeling under the weather this week. That sounds like an interesting suggestion. Boy, it’s been a few years since I’ve seen that film. I’ll drop you an email as I’d be interested in getting a bit more info from you about it if that’s ok. Nice idea! 🙂

      • Tom · December 6, 2013

yeah, absolutely. go ahead and email me with any questions u may have. i’ll be keeping it pretty simple and so i won’t put many restrictions on how you want to go ahead and do it. i think this will be less of a strict ‘analysis’ than it will be, again as i said, a love letter to this classic piece. 🙂 Think of who you want to write the perspective from — the good kid or the bad guys and we’ll go from there!
